FREE Hometrack Valuation Report

From time to time, whether you're looking to sell or let or just you're sense checking the market, everyone wants to know the answer to the question; “How much is my property worth?” That’s why we at Hunters recently invested in a promotion with Hometrack so customers could obtain a report worth &19.99, free of charge. Click here to generate your report.

The reports have proved very popular with both vendors and landlords alike. An on-line valuation is a very useful guide. Useful though it is, It is just a guide and just the start of the journey. Property is, and always will be, about people. The estimated value of a property can only be measured in conjunction with local knowledge incorporating many other associated factors such as location; amenities; schools. The ‘value’ of the property is not an end in itself and needs a ‘purchaser’ (buyer or tenant) to realise it.

Local knowledge includes expertise in who is looking for what type of home. A successful sale or let is not just about maximising viewing opportunities, it is about matching person to property; it is about understanding the needs of the vendor or the landlord; it is about qualifying buyers and tenants because the ultimate aim is to match the two. Yes there are many other important factors for all parties in the transaction like timescales; legalities (ever increasing); negotiations, price, method of payment, EPC’s, searches, conveyancing, mortgages and the list goes on and on. But you just can’t beat a good local agent - a good local agent matches a person to home.

Put simply Hunters is your local agent and local agents always know someone who would be interested in a property like yours!

Hunters are doing the Yorkshire Marathon!

Hunters Director Martin Robinson, along with Justin Johnson from Hunters Wetherby and David Curwen from Hunters Group in the Midlands will be running the PlusNet Yorkshire Marathon on the 11th of October 2015 to raise money for The Nikki Waterhouse Trust.

The Nikki Waterhouse Trust was set up in February 2015 for the public benefit, and to offer relief and assistance to children in need within the United Kingdom. Martin says, "The charity was set up in memory of our dear colleague and friend – Nicole Waterhouse, who at the age of 32, was sadly taken away from us in 2013 following tragic circumstances. Nikki was a bright, lovely girl who loved life. Her loss deeply affected everyone who knew her."

The Trust was formed by John Waterhouse, Nikki’s father and Hunters President together with fellow Directors Kevin Hollinrake, Glynis Frew, Ed Jones and Martin Robinson who all wanted something good to come out of a tragic event. Nikki loved children so it felt right to create a trust in her name to help make a difference to their lives. The Nikki Waterhouse Trust aims to support children and their families in times of need.

If you wish to donate to this great cause then please click here to visit our JustGiving page - all donations are hugely appreciated.

Good luck to Martin, David and Justin.

Smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms

From the 1st October 2015 new legislation is coming into force whereby landlords must provide all residential properties with a fitted smoke detector on each storey and also fit a carbon monoxide alarm in rooms with a solid fuel appliance, after this date and failure to do so could result in fines of up to &5000.00.

Local fire and rescue services are distributing FREE alarms to encourage landlords to meet their safety obligations so why not get in touch with them? Meet the newest member of the Hunters Dawlish family

Gary and Hilary Hook of Hunters in Dawlish introduced a new team member this month - 'Matilda The Moggie'.

Gary explained “We were looking for another car and wanted something that stood out. Having spent a couple of Sundays roaming car dealerships we still couldn’t find what we were looking for. I reverted back to the web and came across a classic car website. We knew we were on the right track.”

Having been to see a number of different cars they settled on the Morris Minor. Hilary said, “I fell in love with the Moggie, the little things like the front lights with 'eyelids' and the distinctive shape really got to me especially as my father had one many years ago.”  Their search took them to Cornwall. Gary explained, “We’d seen this one on the net and made contact with the owner. He was a doctor who had owned the car for eleven years and was only selling it to make way for a new project in the garage."

Hilary continued, “The condition, colour, ash wood, everything about her was perfect and she was originally registered in Devon. To top it all Matilda was built the same year Gary and I were born! So that was that, she’s come back home!”  Hilary wouldn’t divulge the year Matilda was built and just said you’ll have to work it out for yourself.

If you're in the area, pop in to see Gary, Hilary and Matilda - who knows you may even get a ride in this very special vehicle.
