The first Hunters Auction of 2016 proved successful for a number of properties we had on offer.
Bidding started at 6pm, the opening lot being a building plot in the Dringhouses area of York. We expected the plot to sell with an attractive guide of &50,000 – &55,000, however the result exceeded our expectations. The plot had full planning permission for a 3 bedroom detached house and sold for &86,000.
Next on the schedule we had a student investment property available for sale. The property was offered at a guide price of &120,000 - &140,000 and achieved a very respectable &155,000. Let until June 2016, the new owner will benefit from the remaining income of over &10,000 per annum.
Later in the auction, we offered for sale a property down in Southampton. Due to the distance no-one could attend the auction in person, so all bidders arranged to do so by telephone or proxy. The guide price was set at &120,000 - &130,000 and we achieved &142,000. This was an excellent example of how Hunters Auctions can work for a property anywhere in the country as long as we have a branch in the area.
Finally our star property of the night was a dormer bungalow in Badger Hill, York. This property proved popular leading up to the auction date with a high number of viewings. With a guide of &140,000 - &160,000, we expected the result to go over &160,000.
